Sunday, 30 July 2023 - 14:00 CEST
Paramahamsa Vishwananda has been painting devotional images since He was a child. As with everything He does, each stroke of His brush is filled with love and devotion. Indeed, each painting is swayambhu: a self-manifested image of the divine!

VAT
The purchase price includes VAT – yes or no?
- The regulations for the correct collection of Value Added Tax (VAT) are quite complicated, especially for foreign transactions, and vary depending on the country. For sales abroad, a tax consultant will be consulted. This person can be well informed about the regulations to be applied to the individual situation.
VAT is due in Germany
- In the case of cross-border sales to other EU countries, if the buyer is a private individual. The turnover is taxable in Germany; VAT is paid in Germany.
VAT is not due in Germany
- In the case of cross-border sales to other EU countries, if the buyer is an entrepreneur. The turnover is tax-exempt in Germany; VAT is declared in the buyer’s country of residence; in the case of invoicing, the indication of the VAT ID No. A cooperation between buyer and seller is important. For cross-border sales to countries outside the EU. In this case, the transaction is tax-exempt in Germany; the VAT does not have to be shown (in this case, no VAT ID number must be stated on the invoice, as it is only valid within the EU).
- For sales to countries outside the EU, customs regulations must be observed. Import duties (customs duties and import sales tax) may also be incurred (see Transport beyond the European Union). It should also be agreed in advance which contracting party shall bear the costs.
If the foreign buyer acquires the work in Germany and then takes it with him to non-European countries, VAT is due in Germany. After export, the buyer can have the VAT refunded by the seller – upon presentation of an export confirmation. The invoice must subsequently be changed accordingly: it then no longer includes VAT (see VAT for foreign transactions > sales of works of art). - In addition to the contract of sale, the buyer and the seller also need an invoice, e.g. for the deduction of operating expenses or input tax. Therefore, an invoice will also be generated for you.
- Once again, it should be pointed out at this point that the regulations on VAT for foreign transactions are complicated and that the expertise of a tax consultant must be obtained with regard to the individual situation. The explanations on this website offer only initial indications.
- If the work is to be sent abroad, any import duties (customs duties, import sales tax) that may arise must be paid. In our contract, we stipulated that these costs are covered by Bhakti Event GmbH.
